ABOUT ME:SAUMITRA SIRCAR

Namaste,

A  number of visitors to my blog have asked me why there is no name of the writer of the blog anywhere.There are two reasons for this. Firstly while choosing a blog name you can either write your ownname or choose the topic you are most interested in. I admire  the personality of Cincinnatus and chose to name the blog after him.The second reason is that I wanted to stay anonymous and wanted people to understand my writing rather than come to the limelight.

    Anyway since visitors want to know my name here it is ,Saumitra Sircar.Saumitra is related to Mitra a Vedic God ,responsible for earthly  administration and well-being . Sircar is a title given by the British to my ancestors as reward for some achievements dear to them ,when they ruled India.   

    I had probably an extremely fortunate childhood. My father was a professor of Physics. He had done his PhD in Germany in 1962. My mother was a professor in Zoology. So I was inquisitive about the mechanism of life or the theory of relativity due to continuous encouragement from them. During lunch and dinner the entire family used to have meals together. My father used to encourage discussion on economics, ideology ,current political events with us.

     My entry into medical college and subsequent post graduations required a lot of time and effort. It however instilled in me  perseverance in studying. This spilled over to studying books on a wide variety of subjects from physics to economics. I could understand the underlying mathematics also in many cases and this enabled a quantitative understanding of the subject. I read tensor mathematics on my own to understand Einstein general relativity. 

   One thing  was that whenever I studied any new field   ,say social psychology ,I realized I had no knowledge of it till then. But there are numerous books available on that subject ,written by experts. So we really do not care to seek these various fields and read what the experts have written .

   For example can you imagine a cup which gets broken after a fall reconstituting back again into its original shape spontaneously.But a living system is doing it everyday. It repairs itself and even creates a new baby spontaneously.

Or consider how the human brain,a collection of molecules can actually become aware of the functioning of the universe. It is a wonder which occurs by spontaneous means.The experts have written all about above.I have simply tried to convey  what the experts have opined . However there are controversies among them on all the subjects. Instead of going into the  controversies I have used my judgement to select the best theory.

The most difficult topics to explain have been those relating to society. The topics of politics ,economics and organization have been most difficult to write on. They have not been explained in a coherent manner elsewhere. Morever explanations are marred by ideological disputes.

These posts have been written at a level where some preexisting knowledge of the subject is assumed in the reader. If it is not there the ack includes books I read on the subject .One can read the books by locating them in google books .

Anyway please comment on my posts . I am welcome to all criticisms as I have written elsewhere all theories have some truth and ideological rigidity is harmful to knowledge generation. My request would be to use polite and mutually respectful language in your comments.
